2015 Porsche 991 Carrera GTS
Porsche unveiled a GTS version for its 911 Carrera
back in 2010 and now it looks like the history is about to repeat
itself. Our spy photographers sent us some spy shots that seem to reveal
more than a simple revision to the latest generation of the Porsche 911 — the 991.
In
fact, we believe that this revised Carrera will also get a GTS variant
because the prototype caught here features a few telltale signs of the
old GTS. First, it has a wider body and some additional air outlets in
the rear bumper, just like the 2010 GTS did.
Up front, there is a
new front bumper with revised air intakes and new, LED daytime running
lights. Additionally, the rear end gets a new set of taillights, which
lead us to believe that this GTS also carries the changes that we can
expect across the entire 911 range — sans the wide-body kit, of course.
The
facelifted Porsche 991 Carrera is expected to be unveiled in late 2014
or early 2015 and the GTS version should arrive during the same period.
Spy shots
The
prototype caught testing today by our spy photographers has camo only
on the front and rear, which are the parts that will receive most of the
updates when the revised 991 — call it a 991.2 — arrives on the market.
You should expect revised front and rear bumpers, new LED daytime running lights, larger taillights and modified door handles.
Also, the prototype shown here features a wider body and some additional air outlets in the rear bumper.
Porsche 997 Carrera GTS
The Porsche 997 GTS was unveiled at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and it was the most powerful Carrera in the lineup.
The
GTS was powered by a 3.8-liter flat engine with an output of 408
horsepower. This powerplant allowed it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in
just 4.2 seconds. Its top speed was set at 190 mph, when equipped with
the Sport Chrono Package Plus.
On the U.S. market, the GTS coupe was priced at $104,050 and the convertible version at $113,850.
